Issue: The full Start Menu opens when waking your computer from sleep mode.
This behavior is more of an annoyance than an issue, and an odd one at that as sleep by nature indicates you’re continuing where you left off.
Solution – Start Menu
- Right click or touch and hold the Start Menu and choose Shut down or Sign out and Sleep
- Alternately you can click on your desktop (so it is the active Window) and press Alt+F4 (close Window) and the choose sleep
Right click Start > choose Shut Down or Sign Out > choose Sleep = no Start Screen on Wake
Click your Desktop > press Alt+F4 > choose Sleep = no Start Screen on Wake.

OH. You wrote this as if there was a dropdown option to put a check mark next to, labeled Sleep = no Start Screen on Wake”.
You’re actually saying that, if you don’t use the Start menu to put the computer to sleep, there will be no start menu when it wakes up.
ARRRGH. I’m glad I puzzled that out, but it could have been clearer. You could have said WHY this works instead of just listing the steps.
Where the hell are you getting “Sleep = no Start Screen on Wake”? Trying to get to that only puts the computer to sleep.
Just tested this and still happening.
this is not the solution
Thanks.
